Marchlands

Build your kingdom. Shape your borders. Raise your armies.

Marchlands is a turn-based medieval strategy game inspired by the territory-control gameplay of Slay. Take control of a kingdom and fight for control of a changing map where expansion, economy, military strength, and diplomacy all matter.

Claim land, develop your territory, build farms, towns, mines, castles and harbors, raise armies, and decide when to make peace—or go to war.

Build Your Kingdom

The world is divided into hexagonal territories. Expand your kingdom one hex at a time, but conquering land is only the beginning.

Develop the land you control. Fertile ground can become farms to feed your kingdom, mountains can become mines, and towns can turn a developed territory into a source of Gold.

A large kingdom isn't automatically a strong kingdom. You need the Food and Gold to support what you build.

Raise Your Army

Recruit Militia and merge units together to create stronger forces.

Every unit has strengths and weaknesses, and positioning matters. Castles can protect important borders while larger armies allow you to push deeper into enemy territory.

But armies aren't free. Soldiers require both Gold and Food, so building a powerful military means building an economy capable of supporting it.

Explore the Map

Every map is procedurally generated, creating different strategic situations from game to game.

Forests, fertile land, mountains, coastlines and islands all create different opportunities. Build harbors and send units across the water to reach distant shores—or launch an unexpected attack behind an enemy's lines.

Diplomacy

Not every kingdom begins at war.

Build relationships with other kingdoms, form alliances, demand vassalage, send gifts, make peace, or declare war.

Alliances can bring powerful partners, while vassals can expand your realm without directly conquering their territory.

But relationships matter, and every kingdom has its own personality. Some kingdoms seek expansion, others prefer peace, some build alliances, while others focus on defending what they already have.

Alpha

Marchlands is currently in Alpha.

The core game is fully playable, but development is continuing. I'm currently refining the AI, artwork, audio, balance, and overall presentation.

The game is being developed with a focus on keeping the rules easy to understand while giving you meaningful strategic choices about how you expand and develop your kingdom.

If you play Marchlands, I'd love to hear what you think—especially where you think the game could be improved.

Expand. Develop. Defend. Conquer.
